To act on this case against Arundhati Roy so soon after an electoral mandate that rejected totalitarian governance, indicates a denial of what the vote meant, as also an attempt at gaslighting.

The highlight of an unusually eventful week for me. David Arnold, one of the finest and most prolific historians of colonial South Asia, gifted me a copy of the 40th year edition of his 1985 book. I will treasure this copy. This edition is now available from Primus.

If this account is true then it is a new low for the social sciences in India. A regular sociology PhD proposal leading to a show-cause notice being served on the student + a disciplinary inquiry against their Supervisor, culminating in his resignation. indianexpress.com/article/cities…

Your daily reminder that the label 'right-wing thuggery' is designed to class-wash the racism that is so pervasive in Britain today. It is also a terminology with a problematic colonial genealogy...

Vinesh Phogat led the protest against a powerful sexual predator, got assaulted by the police, and harassed by pro-govt shills. Today she just became the first Indian woman wrestler to qualify for the final in Olympic history. What an iconic story—one for the history books 🔥

They don’t. Believe me. Why do you talk such utter shite? And why are you morphing into a sovereign individual anarcho-capitalist narcissist with fascist leanings? Some journey you’ve been on.

Found Ravish Kumar's coverage of RG Kar really disappointing, falling over itself trying to blame the IT cell and paint the WB administration in a palatable light. Kumar fails to mention that things came to a head when the principal was simply sent to another college. 1/
