I'm playing Warhammmer 40k Armageddon with the community compilation mod (adds a bunch of other factions and units), and wow, this game is slept on. It is basically the tabletop game during 8th edition. The story follows the books with some extra stuff too. Highly recommend it.

I'm fully convinced that GW hired the most bottom of the barrel fan fiction writers for these WH+ series. All that set up for what boils down to "Imperium stupid and bad."

Hot take: Warhammer 40k stories should only criticize a faction's government/way of life if the story is from the perspective of the opposing faction. You're supposed to like the faction that you purchase minis for. Stories should essentially be propaganda for your army. It

Reminder that most, if not all, of your money isn't going to the artists and writers that work at Games Workshop. It's going to the people at the top who are actively screwing over fans with price markups and destroying the lore of the IP you love.
