The main takeaway from that first ballot is MPs are not particularly enthused about anyone, don't know who will win, but do know all the candidates have obvious weaknesses.

Thanks Sam Freedman! Was really fun to think through the messages of #MissionDrivenBureaucrats for the new Labour Gov't. Look forward to reactions - particularly from UK public servants. Does "too much compliance" describe your reality? If so how do we improve things?

Happy to have made the Private Members’ Bill ballot. Subject to procedure and those ahead of me, I’ve made it clear that my first preference for a bill would be to reform our archaic assisted dying laws, working with Dignity in Dying and others. The time has come.

She doesn't need to abolish it, just reduce the discount. That's what Labour did last time and it more or less stopped it happening, but left the option open.
