Very much a scaled-down version of the full Longborough Festival Opera experience - as circumstances demand - but even a concert version of Walkure is still utterly overwhelming, especially with singing & conducting like this. Thrilled that our best-loved Wagnerite has discovered the joy of LFO!

Today: FINAL PERFORMANCE! We have arrived at tha 7th of 7 performances in 14 days. Bravi to ALL the cast, crew, orchestra & production. What a whirlwind this has been. And we did it together & socially distanced. To be inside a Wagner opera is a magical thing. #LFOWalküre

Weber's Der Freischutz premiered otd 200 years ago! Such a magical work - a strong influence on Schumann, Wagner, etc. I love the story of Beethoven meeting Weber. 'You're the very devil of a fellow,' he said, chuckling, embracing Weber and plying him with copious amounts of wine
