I'll be in Liverpool and Birmingham later this month as party conference season is once again upon us. We've plenty lined up at Savanta UK but never too busy for a catch-up with other attendees in coffee or beer form - do reach out!

Still find it completely bizarre how out of touch Conservative leadership candidates are with their voters on the issue of Trump. Trump has a net favourability rating of -39 with Conservative voters. Six in ten say a Trump victory in November would be a "negative" outcome.

Of course there's a difference at the moment between Conservative voters and Conservative members, and the need to court the latter and less so the former. Plus Reform UK voters, who the Tories want to win back, are far more positive about Trump (+7 net favourability).

But repeated defences of Trump is out of touch with Conservative loyalist opinion (those who voted for the party in 2019 *and* 2024), so risks alienating a core base while also further putting off Con 2019 to Lab 2024 switchers.

We've shared our exclusive research with Kevin Schofield at HuffPost UK Politics, which suggests that: "Lib Dem voters are pretty happy – with the direction of government, the issues they’re tackling & Starmer himself." ⬇️⬇️⬇️
