Night 2 at CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest, from WGMC's Scott Fybush: Some Jazz Fest favorites come with a built-in fan base, and it's not hard to see why the line for Connie Han's early set stretched around the corner to Swan Street. (full review on our Facebook page)
Day 2 at the CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest, from WGMC's Scott Fybush (@fybush.bsky.social): Brain Cloud sounds like a 50s B-movie from a horror movie festival. But the band sets its musical time machine a few decades earlier, a perfect fit for the 1929-era Deco splendor of The Little Theatre (full review on Facebook)
Day 3 of CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest, from Scott Fybush (@fybush.bsky.social): Only made it to one show tonight. Boston's Cold Chocolate warmed up @thelittleroch with bluegrass originals and fun covers, including Nick Drake's Pink Moon and some Hall and Oates to close out their set. Full review on our FB page.
Day 4 of CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest, from Scott Fybush (@fybush.bsky.social): What was your Monday mood? The party funk of Nashville's Aquaducks Ski Team packing the Duke? The meditative piano of Franck Amsallem at the Hatch? Or the Southern-fried storytelling of @kevingordonmusk at @thelittleroch? 3/3 Full reviews on FB!
Day 4 at CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest, from Scott Fybush (@fybush.bsky.social): If it's a warm summer evening in Rochester, it's festival season, and it was a good time kicking the night off with local folk-rockers the Honeysmugglers in the Wegmans tent. As with so many shows this year, the crowd was packed. (1/3)
Day 4 of CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest from Scott Fybush (@fybush.bsky.social): From Finland by way of NYC, Kaisa Maënsivu and her Kaisa's Machine captured the Christ Church audience with the precision of her double bass and special guest, vibraphonist Sasha Berliner, including tracks she'll soon be recording. (2/3)
I am having such a joyful time covering CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest with Jazz90.1 WGMC-FM in my unexpected new life as an arts writer. Here's my Tuesday night wrap-up: facebook.com/share/p/km9wNr…
Day 6 at CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest: my review for Jazz90.1 WGMC-FM facebook.com/jazz901fm/post…
From Jazz 90.1's Scott Fybush (@fybush.bsky.social): This year's CGI Roc Int’l Jazz Fest featured a record 24 high school jazz bands from around the area. It's often the very last time graduating seniors get to play with their classmates, and it always draws appreciative crowds on Jazz Street. (More on our FB!)
There's no better National Parks Twitter than the James A. Garfield National Historic Site account - and the site is very much worth the visit!
I'm not on here anymore except to let those of you who haven't left yet (whyyyyyy???) know about rare opportunities to see me do comedy. Friday night at SOTA Rochester Fringe with Lisa Fybush Ralph Tetta and more! Then it's back to my depressive hole for the winter...
