As a @mcgillU / McGill Faculty of Law | Faculté de droit alumni & former RA, I am disappointed by this decision In my view, as someone involved in research admin, it violates SSHRC policies But beyond that, it's just unnecessarily cruel to students who rely on RA income

Canadian gov plans "new asylum rules to allow for faster deportations", while data from on the RefugeeLawLab portal shows an 80% refugee recognition rate in 2023 (before appeals, judicial reviews, PRRAs, H&Cs, etc). Who are they planning to deport?

Great article by my colleague Carys Craig There are reasons to be concerned about AI, but reaching to copyright to address those concerns is misguided My view: we need to do more to build an open source AI ecosystem (including fair access to training data)

Lexis+AI is available to Canadian law faculty, so I tried it The system points to sources, which is helpful. But it struggles with basic legal questions that one would expect 1Ls (and generic LLMs) to answer correctly Which answer do you prefer?
