I welcomed Dr. Haileiyesus Getahun, Chief Executive Officer, Health Development Partnership for the African and Caribbean Regions (HeDPAC), on Thursday, 8 August to the Secretariat 🇬🇾. We discussed areas for possible collaboration.

International Youth Day 2024 is being recognised under the theme, "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development". About 50 % of the people on our planet are aged 30 years or younger.

I welcomed HE Dennis Francis 🇹🇹, Pres. of the UNGA 78 to CARICOM HQ🇬🇾 on 9 Aug. I commended his representation, inclu. for #SIDS. We discussed the UN Summit of the Future & the inaugural event on sea level rise @ UNGA 79, both to be held in Sept '24.

I welcomed HE Paul Chikawa, Non-Resident High Commissioner (Designate) of Zimbabwe to Guyana to the #CARICOM Secretariat on 27 August. We discussed Africa-CARICOM relations.

The Hon Dickon Mitchell, PM Grenada & Chairman of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government delighted us with a visit to #CARICOM Headquarters 🇬🇾 this morning.

The CARICOM Secretariat is profoundly saddened at the passing of Sir Shridath “Sonny” Ramphal, on 30 August 2024. We join the Region and the international community in mourning his loss, and in lauding his life marked by committed service and excellence. shorturl.at/nNtO9
