Anaerobic #ciliates often harbor #methanogens as endosymbionts that consume #H2 produced by the host. Methanogens can be picked up from the environment and transferred via mixed-mode transmission. They also glow in UV😍 The ISME Journal Dr. Roxanne Beinart (she/her/hers) academic.oup.com/ismej/article/…
‼️Exciting news this morning! Our new preprint on human skin #archaeome is online. A great collaboration with the Schleper lab Schleper Lab Vienna, spearheaded by Alexander Mahnert🇪🇺🇺🇦 supported by many colleagues and friends! 👇Details: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Another🧩 to define lipoprotein transport in the Lyme disease spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi, placed by the multitalented and perseverant Bryan Murphy, a structural biology team led by Scott Lovell, and the systems mass spec team Stowers Institute. Spirochetes do it differently!
It's out!! Great review on Terrabacteria led by Bacille Diderm Beaud and Najwa Taib with Christophe Beloin. So much to discover on envelope biogenesis and the diderm-to-monoderm transition in this understudied clade! Now out: An outer membrane porin-lipoprotein complex modulates elongasome movement to establish cell curvature in Rhodospirillum rubrum rdcu.be/dSHtx A great collaboration with Bramkamp Lab, Vollmer lab, Johann Heider, Timo Glatter, Eli Cohen and Volker Kleeberg.
Happy to share our new paper on the characterization of MSTV1, an archaeal virus infecting Methanobrevibacter smithii, the dominant archaeon in the human gut. This was a beautiful collaboration between Mart Krupovic and Simonetta Gribaldo labs. 👇🧵nature.com/articles/s4146…
bravo Diana!! another great story with Mart Krupovic INSTITUT PASTEUR out Nature Communications on #viruses of methanogenic #archaea from the #human gut. This little one was a bit shy but we got it in the end 😉 Thanks to ANR and all collaborators! see 👇👇
