It was an honor to write for the UNC Eating Disorders blog, Exchanges, on how Arab/MENA Americans are positioned in psychological research; and namely, how the simultaneous invisibility and hyper-visibility (per previous scholars) of Arab/MENA folks perpetuates health disparities.

Being the first in my family to get my PhD (pending internship) is such a surreal feeling. My grandmothers weren’t even able to finish middle school but are the most brilliant and curious women I know. Every moment I get to write and do the research I love, I think of them 🤍

Post dissertation celebrations include running a 10K with friends (587 ft total elevation means I can’t feel my legs right now but lucky to do something I love and enjoy!)
