As for my old brief… during a recent restructure, the BBC announced it was closing several network correspondent roles, including its two specialist Community Affairs correspondent positions. This means my former role is now closed.

Since this year's outbreak of mpox, a hospital in South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has already received eight-hundred patients. And eight have died since - all of those under the age of five.
