11-y-o’s last full day at primary school yesterday. She’s back there today (as are parents) for an hour for the leavers’ assembly, at which point I’m fairly sure I’ll be in floods…

Update: am on day 4 of holiday (3rd full day) and just starting book 6…

Not quite the holiday we’d planned… The poor(ly) 11-y-o and I have been transferred via ambulance and boat from the (only) hospital in Kefalonia to one on the mainland with a specialist paediatric unit. It’s 99.9% certain it’s appendicitis, in which case they’ll operate.

Thank you so so much for the get well wishes. The 11-y-o is now appendix-less (I’m sure there must be a book related pun there somewhere but I’m darned if I can think of it) & on the mend. She’s currently reading on my phone because we forgot the kindle charger…

In case you’re wondering, the 11-y-o is doing well. I, on the other hand, might scream if I have to listen to ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ one more time. The family in the next room have it on repeat for their toddler. And the walls are paper thin…

Thank you again for all the lovely well wishes. The good news is that the 11-y-o has been discharged! She can’t fly home until Thursday, is on antibiotics until Friday, and can’t shower until Saturday — but she’s no longer in hospital. She and I are both delighted about this!
