I'm always asked, "What's being done on deer in soybean?" Well here's something. It doesn't work, but you already knew that. farmprogress.com/crop-protectio…

Our early beans are down ~12%from what they typically run. I don’t know where these yield estimates are coming from but I don’t see them out there. Go ahead and put that winter wheat in the ground.

Question of the day: “Where is the worst white mold that you have ever seen?” Me: “Wisconsin” Him: “Can white mold really take out half of a soybean field?” Me: “Yes” - Guess I will be headed north tomorrow.

I would not automatically assume all “top dieback” is stalk rot. In this case, stalks are fine. These are just plants affected earlier by aphids. There is going to be some nasty black coming out of the back of the combine due to the water collection, rot in underdeveloped ears.

#Harvest24 has begun between Taylorville, IL and Nokomis, IL. Early planted corn reports have been positive. Soybeans are drying down quickly, due to no rain. We think at least a week and we will be going after the early April planted soybeans.

This early April planted field has been my favorite all year. I do know that there are wet spots. I’m not selling corn anymore, so I had to include the picture with diplodia ear rot.

"When stem purpling is observed, it is important to determine what disrupted the source-sink balance. These imbalances usually occur when there are fewer pods than normal on a soybean plant." From the Science Behind Late Season Purple Soybean Stems at doi.org/10.31274/cpn-2… by

As always, I promised a no tweet zone 😉, but there are areas of very, high white mold pressure in Northern Illinois. Seed companies will be able to get a better handle of their soybean white mold ratings, especially on newer varieties.

I have heard of some pod feeding of some soybeans already harvested in Southern Illinois. How is the late season bean leaf beetle pressure? This guy decided to hitch a ride with me back South.
