I might as well retire now on a career high, because my academic article was just cited in a Bollywood movie review. Unknown life accomplishment unlocked. me.mashable.com/entertainment/…

Bihar in the NYT with an interesting article on labor market mismatches. Housing and social services that allow interstate migrants to more permanently settle in locations with high-paying jobs seems like one of the missing puzzle pieces here nytimes.com/2023/06/28/wor…

86% of community health workers in Africa are unpaid. Glad that The Global Fund now requires budgets for this critical work, but others need to do more (meaning the bare minimum), rather than rationalizing unpaid labor as "cost effective." nytimes.com/2023/09/21/hea…

A report by CEEW reveals a shocking fact! 75% of the country’s population resides in districts highly vulnerable to floods, droughts, and cyclones. Among coastal districts, this figure rises to more than 95%. A thread that maps India's climate vulnerability 🧵

I asked my husband to remind me of the name of a particular curry a couple of times this week. He asked if I wanted to "bookmark "the recipe. I told him that I had already bookmarked him -- because isn't that what marriage is, after all?

An academic discussion that really bugs me on here is about "administrative bloat". Which is in stark contrast to most faculty saying that they're drowning in administrative responsibilities. The problem is most people don't know how university revenue and spending works ..

Econ hive mind, help! I teach intro to data analysis to MSc's, many of whom don't have any coding background. We've previously gotten them access to DataCamp to build skills on their own but now it might be too expensive for Imperial -- any ideas on alternatives? #econtwitter

Despite facing an unprecedented heatwave this year that caused deaths and took a toll on the economy, the government has no plan to classify heatwaves as a national disaster.

Just finished Neha Dixit's book. Devastating. A staggering work of sustained qualitative data collection over 9 years. Both the protagonist and the author were subject to violent threats during drafting. A vivid reminder that recall is nonlinear, 60 minutes may not be enough.

Someone recently wrote me an email that mentioned that they were "undergoing a lit review," rather than, presumably, conducting one. No suspected typo has ever felt like a more hyper-accurate depiction of my life...
