When politicians demonise migrants, the far right listen. When they say refugees should be “sent back to where they came from”, the far right listen. When they complain about asylum seekers staying in hotels, the far right listen. Let’s promote a message of unity instead.

This IS who we are: lots of daily racism and little leadership action. The discrimination received by NHS & social care staff everyday - from patients, relatives & coworkers - has been well documented. And for all the *talk* of staff retention and wellbeing, nothing has changed.

SLTea Time RCSLT 💙 Good to see but would be even better if they call it what it is - Islamophobia/anti-muslim hate. Royal College of Occupational Therapists would be interested to know why this was left out?

Why do organisations explicitly avoid calling out Islamophobia? Language is important, and avoiding the term is part of the problem. Media rhetoric consistently paints Muslims as the "bad guys". This daily narrative impacts Muslims and contributes to the issues we see today.

The nature of community work asks us to constantly re-orientate. With need, risk, and urgency being so high and individual capacity being so low we must continue to build coalitions of care that do not rely on individual reactions, but fluid community responses that are adaptive.
