Fab morning creating the longlist for the UKLA book awards 2025 3-6+ category. Great to talk with knowledgeable passionate people about some absolutely brilliant books. We got it down from 150 to 22 books. Not a bad effort! MoonOnAStick Christine Lockwood
Absolutely loving this series by Kiran Millwood Hargrave FRSL **UPDATES ONLY** Ysolda and Eira are fantastic characters and the cataclysmic world events they find themselves in are an extraordinary backdrop to this tale of friendship and love, Can’t wait for Geomancer book 3
Absolutely loving “Wild God” by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Joyous and sad and wildly beautiful. Is there another songwriter who captures the complexity of life, its highs and lows, better than Nick Cave.
Well that is a mighty fine sight for our first Year 6 class read of 24/25. “Fallout” by Lesley Parr (is not here at the mo) is a stunning read. Bloomsbury Kids & YA UK
Reading this fab book on my way to that there London. “Lockett & Wilde’s Dreadfully Haunting Mysteries~The Ghosts of the Manor~” is a brilliant introduction to a marvellous detective pairing. Spooky and funny in equal measure. Love it. Cracking work Lucy Strange and #PamSmy
Our first speaker Simon Smith talking about “how we get children to like reading” & sharing ‘I hate love books’ by Mariajo Illustrajo “We’re all looking for that Wooow! moment with children who suddenly get that reading can be fun” 🤩 #WeAreCoramBeanstalk #WeCreateReaders
Very proud to have been asked by Coram Beanstalk to talk to their volunteers about how to “Get kids to like books” It was a real honour to support such a brilliant organisation.
