Our Fundi@Work program is constantly evolving and next year, we plan to pilot the same learning model for out-of-school youth across Uganda, eventually scaling out to 35,000 youth.

By constantly pushing boundaries, we believe we'll create the next generation of Africa's Fundis.

Project 3: Four-Wheel Drive Rover Robot 'Letaani'

Goal: Develop a 4-wheeled robot with independent control for each wheel. Also has autonomous & bluetooth control modes.

This rover will be part of the Fundi Bots robots for use by students in primary and secondary school.

Project 2: Smart Home Automatic Lighting System.

Goal: Build a prototype for a home automation system with sensors to detect human presence and automatically control lighting. Also includes a manual remote control and an accompanying power stabilizer unit.

Project 1: Four Legged Spider Robot 'Lantana'.

Goal: design a walking robot using DC motors instead of servo motors, using potentiometers for position control and feedback.

4. Over two months, our students learn the following:

1. Electronics & circuit board design.
2. Programming (with Arduino and/or Python)
3. Mechanical systems design
4. Computer Aided Design
5. 3D Printing, CNC machining, laser cutting
6. Project management
7. Presentation

3. My challenge to the Fundi@Work team:
Our current university projects should become secondary school projects & current secondary school projects should become primary school projects.

By constantly raising the bar, the current primary students will be rockstars at university.

2. For most students, the projects they do during their 2-month internship with us will likely be more complex than their final year school projects. We will keep pushing this envelope so that university final year projects can get more challenging - to raise great engineers.

Why we run an internship training:

1. For the vast majority of university students, even engineering students, they're seeing this practical learning for the first time at Fundi Bots.

In some institutions, they will likely never practice this unless they explore externally.

Before social media, only a few friends and family knew you were foolish.

Now, with all your followers, millions of people now know you're foolish.
