Great to start the Postcode Gardener Project with Friends of the Earth funded by @thecooperativebank. We had a great first session, at Hall Lane Day Centre, building their new community garden. We’re committed to creating 50 green spaces in Wythenshawe over the next 3 years!!
There’s almost 150 community growing projects that are part of the Growing Mcr network. Here’s the Ladybarn Community Hub Community Garden! They grow fruit and veg with volunteers twice a week and have a biodiverse wildflower garden too. Polytunnels and more planters arriving soon.
Great day yesterday at RHS Bridgewater for our annual Growing Manchester networking event. Community growing groups came from across Manchester to develop new connections and learn from each other. Our Growing Mcr network includes 150 grassroots groups from across the city! 🌳
We’re at Dunham Massey National Trust every Thurs 11-3pm throughout the school hols. Nature based art and craft activities can support children’s mental health and wellbeing, develop motor skills and improve their artistic abilities.
Green roof installed in Stockport Town Centre today in partnership with Cheshire Wildlife Trust. Green roofs reduce runoff and flooding, improve air quality, are increases biodiversity (bees visiting already today!).. and they don’t look bad either. We love green roofs!
First day creating a wildlife hedge and allotment Plymouth Grove Primary School in longsight today with our volunteers. The project forms part of the Department for Education National Education Nature Park that aims to increase engagement with nature for all young people. What an excellent idea!
