My wonderful Dad, John Spender KC, sadly passed away last night. Bianca and I, Catherine his wife, and our families are heartbroken. He was funny and thoughtful, gracious and reflective, and always curious. We will miss him dreadfully.

Walk the talk Labor. It has been over 4 months since the fossil fuel price crisis - our families and businesses are hurting. Sovereign risk is not a defense when the super profits are being made because of a war.

Households must lead the way in decarbonisation. We can relieve cost of living pressures & save the environment at the same time. Govt needs to focus on supporting this, especially for our most vulnerable households.

The Govt is failing Australian businesses and families by not acting on gas pricing while the companies capitalize on war-driven price rises. The industry could have sought social license and addressed these issues - it has failed to do so - Govt must act theage.com.au/politics/feder…

$50 million a year of taxpayer funds spent on self-promotion. No. We need to reform political advertising rules.

The treasurer is right to highlight cost pressures in the budget, but government also has control over how to spend money smarter. There are key reforms needed in working with the states in areas such as health to drive better healthcare but slowing the rate of cost increases

In the budget the Treasurer should announce a short sharp tax review, so we can have a balanced discussion about what tax system can set us up for productivity growth, as well as support the services we need. That would be the courageous act.
