You genuinely wonder how much they're hurt by the fact that he reached the pinnacle of tennis while the status quo golden boys never came close

I may not have been completely surprised by Dimitrov defeating Alcaraz but I surely didn't expect a comprehensive win like that.

Bad news is he is 1-7 against his next opponent (0-4 last year), but hoping for a miracle

They almost did on a few occasions:

2009 - Nadal lost in the QF from 2 breaks up in the decider

2010 - All of them except for Nadal lost in the 2R

2011 - Murray lost in the 2R
