I don’t have a particularly strong take on TSLA. It seems that opinions and emotions are pretty hotly divided on the question whether it’s the biggest bubble ever. But I did study ANR data a bunch last year. Never seen a bubble stock this hated by the analysts.

Listening to this panel discussion. At one point on the question whether e-commerce will make inflation feed thru faster Karl Smith said he thought maybe we wouldn’t have business cycles anymore. I thought we all agreed that it was credit (cycles) that cause business cycles

Ulrich’s is closing. When I was running past my local library yesterday I was thinking whether anyone still uses it and whether the town will still fund it for much longer.

I’m looking for 2-3 economists/strategists to join my team in Munich. You need to be very analytical (modeling, writing), good communicator, and fun to work with. Topics: eurozone macro, green macro, rates, and real assets (infra, PE, transition, real estate)

Who is driving the economic car? The balance between fiscal policy, central banks, and markets.

The Fed needs help - central banks are under scrutiny from policy decision makers who could step in and help *truly* fight inflation.

You don’t become an expert by reading a book either. The nice thing about podcasts imo is that you get to hear how a domain expert talks about an area about which he/she knows a lot and you the audience very little. The good ones make a conscious choice what to tell vs abstract.

Great thread on why food inflation is actually more closely tied to core inflation factors (e.g., shipping costs, low-end wages, etc.) than to agricultural commodity prices. A KC Fed chart summarizes this point well kansascityfed.org/research/econo…
