Babygirl will mark Nicole Kidman’s return to Venice Film Festival after exactly 20 years, since 2004’s Birth - arguably her best performance to date. It’s a sign 😈

they can bus all far right loyalist patriots into Belfast all the want, they’ll still be outnumbered, outsang, and outclassed every day of the week solidarity to everyone who turned up with 48 hours notice, and to Mick Lynch for his gorgeous wee baldy head

Any Irish person who brought their Irish flag to protest Immigration in Belfast in accompaniment of Loyalist gangs are traitors to Ireland and the furthest thing from patriots.

The sooner men like him, from his generation in Northern Ireland, shuffles off this mortal coil, the better. Bitterly hate-filled, devoid of any real humanity, and profoundly stupid.

Kidman getting Birth-level raves at Venice for Babygirl, twenty years after the former film was savaged at the festival. This is some sweet sweet cosmic justice, which will only be complete if (when) she gets the Oscar nom for this one 🙏🏼🕯️

A smooth #LFF ticketing system this year, I managed to get almost all 27 films on my list for the fest 🎬 Heavy-hitters like Queer, Anora, Hard Truths, Nickel Boys, Maria. Festival favourites too, including Fréwaka, Black Box Diaries, Viet and Nam, Sujo, Ghost Trail + many more!

Seeing Steve McQueen’s Hunger again, for the first time in 15 years, at BFI no less, was a very special experience. A monumental film, nevermind a directorial debut. Michael Fassbender astonishing, the film around him harrowing and undeniable. An all-timer, it’s unshakeable.
