My child’s teacher shared this with parents- and it’s true, kids develop at different times. But popcorn also needs the right conditions to pop, the same is true for learning. We need govt to invest in #SkEd to improve the conditions in schools and ensure all students can thrive.

Many believe that large classes are only an issue in urban areas. Unfortunately, many rural areas are seeing large class sizes too. And both areas are seeing more multi-grade or multi-curricular classes.

Heartbreaking, Infuriating, inexcusable. Dr. Ogieglo is correct- this experience is not unique. We have talked about triaging supports in schools, this shows the crisis caused by chronic underfunding. No child should be denied the supports they require to receive an education.

Thinking of the staff, students and extended Evan Hardy School community in the wake of a difficult and sad day. I encourage everyone to show their support and kindness while respecting the privacy of those involved.

My partner helped extinguish her. He, and other staff, sat with her until the paramedics arrived and talked with her so she would stay conscious. He says he will never forget the smell. Our government needs, NEEDS, to properly fund education.
