“Black and brown people aren’t fully American” is implicit in so much GOP rhetoric, from their defenses of the electoral college to the way they use words like “constituents.”

This is a really good point as to my thread on labor and electoralism. Politics shapes the field on which the labor struggle takes place, but nobody should ever imagine it to be the entirety of the struggle.

This story is the tragic and preventable consequence of forcing people to travel hours to overburdened clinics for care and then denying emergency treatment. Many warned this would happen. Now a young woman is dead and a little boy has no mother.

After JFK, political assassination attempts in the US were a thing for like two decades before gradually petering out. Weirdly, though, the public response to the Trump attempts feels more like late-cycle exhaustion than the start off a trend.
