The Sacramento Valley Astronomical Society caught this incredible image of the Trifid Nebula (M20) in Sagittarius with their SVX152T. This nebula is an unusual combination of an open cluster of stars, an emission nebula, a reflection nebula and a dark nebula. #stellarvue

11 years ago #Today, the robotic spacecraft Cassini captured Saturn's rings, our planet Earth and its moon in the same frame, in the picture now known as «the day the Earth smiled».

Brian Meyers captured this extraordinary shot of the Pillars of Creation in Serpens with his SVX152T. These "pillars" are made up of cool molecular hydrogen and dust that are being eroded by photoevaporation from the ultraviolet light of relatively close and hot stars.

This stunning shot of the Lagoon nebula (M8) was caught by Ken Walker, in Sagittarius with his SVX130T-R. This emission nebula is one of only two star forming nebulae, that are faintly visible to the eye from mid-northern latitudes. #stellarvue

By sheer chance, I caught a photo of a plane perfectly transiting the sun while using my hydrogen-alpha telescope. This shot ended up in the hands of the flight crew, who loved it! This was formatted as a mobile wallpaper for you to enjoy! I'm posting these daily, stay tuned!

Brian Meyers proceeded to catch this mind-boggling shot of Wolf-Rayet 134 in Cygnus with his SVX152T. This variable star's radius is five times that of the sun and 400,000 times as luminous, due to a temperature of over 63,000 Kelvin. #stellarvue

With his SVX180T, Nicola Beltraminelli managed to capture this unworldly shot of Markarian’s Chain. Viewed 50 million light-years away from Earth as a smooth, curved line, this stretch of galaxies forms part of the Virgo Cluster #stellarvue

Michael Telesco managed to capture this dazzling image of the Veil Nebula in Cygnus with his SVX102T-R. This cloud of heated and ionized gas and dust rests 2,400 light-years away from Earth and covers an area of sky, six times larger than the full moon. #stellarvue

This week, a small group of about 20 owners held an informal Dark Sky Star Party where Troy's SVX152T got put to good use. As witness, Vic commented that he had never seen the double cluster, M27 or the Blue Snowball, as razor sharp and with such contrast. #stellarvue
