A selection of images from a Spring and Summer that seemed to go by far too fast this year at #RSPBTheOa. Still, it’s nice to have the wintering geese and Twite returning back in their numbers now. RSPB Scotland Explore Islay & Jura Explore Islay Giving Nature a Home Glasgow

Beautiful autumnal start at Kinnabus this morning. Our first 6 Greenland Barnacle Geese dropped in just after first light, accompanying the 26 Greenland White-Fronts on the loch, and an unusual record of a single Brent Goose. #Islay #RSPBTheOa

Some beautiful botanical interest around one of our lime kilns; field gentian and frog orchids galore on this short sward wildflower hillside. RSPB Scotland #RSPBTheOa

#Bonxie hawking over RSPB Scotland The Oa early this morning. Love these bulky sea pirates! My first record on the reserve this year, and only my third of 2023 in total. #GreatSkua #RSPBTheOa #Islay

Our male #Corncrake has at times been incredibly bold, and not due to a lack of suitable cover. Here he is after preening on an old silage bale amongst nettles, giving off a King of the Castle type vibe, photographed from the Land Rover. RSPB Scotland #RSPBTheOa #Springwatch

Beautiful moonrise over Loch Kinnabus this evening, with snipe drumming, oystercatchers calling, and a Barn Owl screeching whilst doing circuits around the farm. I chose to pretend I couldn’t hear the Greylags honking away… RSPB Scotland RSPB #RSPBTheOa #Islay

Beautiful views over Port Nan Gallen on the reserve coast this afternoon, whilst topping the pathways and Chough foraging habitat. RSPB Scotland #RSPBTheOa @BeautifuIIslay
