While #ocean advocates were gathered at #UNOC2022 , the #UNOceanConference in Lisbon, there was a *monster* at the other end of town. How many #whales 🐳 get hit by this monstrous ship without the captain (& passagers) even noticing? Let alone the subsidized mad #fuel consumption.

Well what an amazing week it was at the #UNOceanConference last week. So much, and so many, to be inspired by. The ocean is undoubtedly facing some enormous challenges and there is so much work to do, but the ocean community is well and truly on it folks.
The #Mediterranean is a biodiversity hotspot but it is the most overfished sea in the world, in addition to suffering from multiple other pressures. And yet it’s mostly unprotected. Even in areas designated to safeguard marine life, trawling continues. #UNOceanConference#UNOC
