Not quite halfway finished with A Spy Among Friends, but it’s excellent history and laced with hilarious British humor, e.g.: “his name, unimprovably, was Engelbertus Fukken.”

@DeeDeeS67963644 My great-great grandfather Antonie Engelbertus Beusekamp (1872)

Black sheep in a very rich part of the family.
Preferred streetfootball over church and
accepted the weekly punishment.
Married a maid after impregnating her, hence no heritage.

He did his thing ... I like him😀❤️

I thought you should know that the book I'm reading about MI5 during WW2 has just introduced a German spy called Engelbertus Fukken.

Cracking spy novel this but some of the character names are a bit far-fetched.

Hillary St John Bridger Philby.
Sir Hughe Montgomery Knatchbull-Hugessen.
Lieutenant Colonel David de Crespigny Smiley. Engelbertus Fukken.

I mean, come on.

A German spy who shot himself in 1940 after running out of money in UK had a cover of a Dutchman called, unimprovably, Engelbertus Fukken.
