On 11-12 August 2024, WHO Bahrain participated in the 13th edition of Youth City 2030, an initiative organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs (وزارة شؤون الشباب) to build Bahraini youth capacities and skills, recognizing them as a driving force for sustainable development.

The event aligned with International Youth Day, celebrated each year on August 12, with this year's theme, "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development."

The theme highlights the crucial role of youth as key partners in connecting digitalization with the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

WHO featured a booth where youth were introduced to different WHO’s campaigns: the advocacy campaign for an end to the targeting of youth with harmful tobacco products, in line with this year’s theme “Protecting children from tobacco industry interference”; and the hearWHO app.

Other activities featured at the booth included a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) photobooth, educational games, and WHO giveaways.

On 29 July 2024, World Health Organization (WHO) Bahrain delegation, led by Dr Tasnim Atatrah, WHO Representative in Bahrain, conducted a field visit to the Smoking Cessation Clinic at Shaikh Abdulla Bin Khalid Al Khalifa Health Center.

The medical team provided a presentation on their ongoing efforts and toured them around the Smoking Cessation Clinic at the center, where they were briefed on the services and utilized technologies, innovations and distribution of resources to support smoking cessation.

في يوم الخميس الموافق 29 أغسطس 2024، وبحضور ومرافقة الشيخة دينا بنت راشد آل خليفة، دينا بنت راشد آل خليفة، مستشار التخطيط والتطوير في وزارة شؤون الشباب، أجرت الدكتورة تسنيم عطاطرة، ممثل منظمة الصحة العالمية في البحرين، زيارة ميدانية لمدينة الشباب 2030.

وخلال الزيارة، قام الفريق المنظم لمدينة الشباب 2030 بتسليط الضوء على الأنشطة والبرامج التدريبية والاحترافية التي صُممت بهدف اكتشاف وتمكين المواهب الشبابية البحرينية.

وقد جرت الزيارة حول أقسام المدينة المختلفة والتي شملت: مركز الفنون والثقافة، مركز العلوم والتكنولوجيا، مركز الرياضة والصحة، مركز الإعلام والترفيه، بالإضافة إلى مركز القيادة وريادة الأعمال.

ومن جانبها أشادت الدكتورة تسنيم عطاطرة، ممثل منظمة الصحة العالمية في البحرين، بدور مدينة الشباب 2030 الفاعل والذي يقوم على تحفيز طاقات الشباب البحرينيين وصقل مهاراتهم وتطوير خبراتهم سعيًا لتحقيق أهدافها في تمكين الشباب وتأهيلهم للدخول في سوق العمل.

On Thursday, 29 August 2024, accompanied by Shaikha Deena bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Advisor Planning and Development at the Ministry of Youth Affairs (وزارة شؤون الشباب), Dr Tasnim Atatrah, WHO Representative in Bahrain, conducted a field visit to the Youth City 2030.

This event, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in collaboration with Labour Fund (Tamkeen) as a strategic partner, was held at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center.

During the visit, the organizing team of Youth City 2030 showcased various activities, training programs, and professional development opportunities designed to discover and empower young Bahraini talents.

The tour covered different sections of the city, including the Arts and Culture Center, Science and Technology Center, Sports and Health Center, Media and Entertainment Center, as well as the Leadership and Entrepreneurship Center.

Dr Tasnim Atatrah , WHO Representative in Bahrain, praised Youth City 2030 for its vital role in energizing young Bahrainis, honing their skills, and enhancing their expertise, all aimed at empowering them and preparing them for the job market.
