I enjoyed the entire teach-in by Sociologists for Palestine and thought Buroway's historical analysis of sociologists' collective actions - and how/when the Association chooses to act - was very revealing. ICYMI, check out the blog:

Estimates suggest that a quarter of all incarcerated women have not been convicted of a crime. Fed gov't has not collected key gender data in 20 yrs so we have no idea if that number is growing. Thanks to Prison Policy Init. for highlighting this critical data gap.

So grateful to the Emancipatory Sciences Lab for hosting this unconference and to the presenters who are leading today's critical discussions! Feels especially important to be in community with scholar activists and conversing on resistenace.

Iā€™ve met Ian Golash a few times. Most recently when he gave a presentation at the abolitions conference on teaching. Heā€™s exactly the teacher Iā€™d want in the classroom.

Scientists have been complicit in constructing the very categories of race that create the conditions of genocide we're here to oppose.

You can't kill a people in broad daylight if you haven't first unpeopled them.

This incredible student-led antiwar movement is a defining moment in history.

And as an academic, I canā€™t stop thinking about Frantz Fanonā€™s writing on ā€œthe colonized intellectual.ā€ (thread) āž”ļø
