I recently had somebody chew me out for writing articles/columns that had nothing to do with the Israel/Gaza conflict. Evidently that's the only thing worth writing about. I will try and keep that in mind.

Coincidently enough, today is both International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearances, and National Grief Awareness Day. By no means unique to the Indigenous community of Canada, we have our own understanding of these two topics.

Thinking of developing a new bucket list but not your regular kind. For instance, it would be great for one of my books to be banned by a school board, just to brag at Author's festivals but that's unlikely. I'm told my work is pretty popular in high schools and post secondary.

About to start work on a short story today. And much like sprints and marathons, almost as much prep and focus goes into those short stories as novels. Its just the execution and recovery time are a little briefer.

It was a bit chilly this morning when my alarm went off... by alarm I mean a cat's cold nose was suddenly thrust into my eye. Since our ancestors never had domestic cats, I wonder if they used other animals for this like otters, raccoons or maybe bears. Now that's a wake up call.

If anybody is going to be in the hood on Sunday, I will be doing a reading from COLD at the Eden Mills Author's Festival, near Guelph. At one point someone told me it was clothing optional but that may have been a joke. It may be chilly that day.
