7 am dog walk
The sun burns a hole in the morning and Wednesday climbs through. A Beamer with badly battered bodywork. Athletes on the track stretching out in the sun. Saggy nets on the shady tennis courts. A pair of pudgy pugs.

7 am dog walk
A black bird in a silver birch. White bluebells. That flower bed has become a flower pond. The diffident ding of a distant bike bell. A styrofoam iceberg floating on a park puddle sea.

7 am dog walk
Molly smashes her sniff-stops per minute world record. A sleek black cat, just sitting in the sun, glistening. Drifts of snow white blossom. A duck shaped door knocker. Marathon stewards in tabards the colour of Greek sunshine.

7 am dog walk
Moss upholstered coping stones. The tacit tinkle of breeze blown bluebells. The park is blessed with blossom. The dawn chorus jam session is in full swing. A toddler and her dad pass by, happily chatting about Coco Pops.

7 am dog walk
Bluebells, blue bins, and strange patches of blue overhead. Today’s runners demonstrate the scamper, the stagger, the waddle, the sway; the totter, the swagger, the shuffle, the prance. A puddle-paddling-pigeon. That sunlit cherry tree is a suburban burning bush.

7 am dog walk
The park is hosting a puddle convention. Today’s dog walkers are an assortment of reluctant smilers, instant grinners, and determined scowlers. A builder stands in the middle of the road pulling on his trousers. A J Cloth on an A frame. A geezer in a blazer.

7 am dog walk
A man with a mop, a girl in a crop top. A couple with backpacks and determined strides. A Holly with bright berries and lustrous leaves. Cherry trees like cheerleaders waving pink pom poms. The paper girl passes by, chewing furiously, peddling slowly.

7 am walk
Welsh sea, some môr. A sleeping cat, two kittiwakes. A woman with a swaying gait passes through a creaking gate. A toad on the road. A gust of wind batters the chip shop. The lifeboat station is stationary, and lifeless. Molly’s arthritis hurts us both.

Our this week is ‘Christian Doctrine’ by Mike Higton.

Written for second and third-year university students, it shows that Christian Doctrine is not a series of impossible claims to be clung to with blind faith. 🧵
