When a shared vision is developed & held by people in an organisation, magic can happen. That collective picture of the future can help everyone move in the same direction towards shared goals. It can help create a sense of identity & unity that spreads across teams & can inspire

Having a sense of autonomy at work (a level of control & independence over job tasks & work environment) makes a massive difference. It leads to a sense of accomplishment & wellbeing; it makes people feel more invested in their work so creates engagement; it makes people feel

Research by Korn_Ferry into the qualities of senior leaders into the future. They conclude that leaders will need to be more curious, humble, continuous learners and system/network players. The role leaders play will have both more & less control than ever:

Having recently stopped as CD to nearly 200 doctors, I have been overwhelmed by the +very feedback re: NHS Practitioner Health - has helped to keepthe show on the road - & not to underestimate HR & OH support but NHS Practitioner Health offers something else. Seems incredible value for money TBH

Thanks Helen Bevan, once again! I particularly like the idea of supporting aspirations, not just targets. And is it about time that “Task & Finish” groups are seen as rather unfashionable!!? Doesn’t sit well with my instinct for CONTINUOUS improvement 😂

Increasingly unconvinced that Vivek Trivedi and Dr Robert Laurenson care much about patients or even the junior doctors they are supposed to serve. Why can other healthcare professionals resolve their pay dispute? Maybe this is really about their self interest, not patients or JDs

#ITVDebate. We have learned nothing from Brexit. It seems it’s still absolutely OK to facilitate a lie on national TV, to appear “fair”. What nonsense…

This is a fascinating take on the recent claim by ⁦Rishi Sunak⁩ . (PS I’d like a Prome Minister who I can trust) On Sunak’s maths, Tories will lift taxes by £3,000 per household | The Spectator ⁦Conservatives⁩ ⁦The Labour Party⁩ spectator.co.uk/article/on-sun…

Is Beth Rigby really only going to ask about one thing? Trying to catch out Keir over future tax decisions (as if any government can truly rule out everything that might happen in the next 5 years). What a wasted opportunity on #SkyDebate

Really? I thought that’s exactly what a General Election is…. 🤔 Is Rishi Sunak now telling us what we should think is the purpose of a GE!?🤦‍♂️ Sunak v Starmer

Action bias. Football goalkeepers will jump to the left or right when facing penalties, even though statistically they'd be better off just staying in the middle. Action bias is the tendency to choose action over inaction, even where there's no indication that taking action will

Even the questions from Laura Kuenssberg are a product of 14 years of Tory rule - so deficit-based. It’s our political culture and journalists contribute. Of course it’s possible to improve on the relationship with the EU. It’s called politics. #bbclaurak

And why an improvement rather than an assurance-based approach is likely to be so much more effective - it benefits from all that tacit knowledge below the surface. Thanks Helen Bevan for sharing

Why do quantified performance targets/quality standards frequently fail to deliver their goals? Three core contributing concepts: 1) Goodhart’s Law: “When a metric becomes a target, it ceases to be a good metric". 2) Campbell's Law: “The more any quantitative social indicator is

The ⁦The Labour Party⁩ needs to notice what people have voted for - investment, not austerity. Has ⁦Rachel Reeves⁩ forgotten this already!? theguardian.com/business/artic…

Listening to Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 4 Today reminds me of the responsibility of mainstream media to counter places like X that are SO deficit-based. Yet many journalists seem to want to continually find fault. Wonder how much that contributes to our cultural challenges?
