Serra da Capivara is a great example of a Caatinga biome exclusive to Brazil. Lots of thorny trees and bushes, cacti, and a huge amount of wildlife including capuchins, howler monkeys, deer, ocelots and jaguars. Adri谩n Arroyo Tiago Fal贸tico 馃悞

I'm so happy that I had the chance to work with these incredible a few years ago. Simultaneously, I'm so sad that I experienced their dramatic decline in population size.

Ok, can anyone see the spider hole? Capuchins at Serra da Capivara regularly use stone tools to dig for these spiders, but first they have to find the nest. The Leakey Foundation IPHES MPI-EVA Leipzig

Today we were visited by some capuchins as we surveyed some stone tool use sites. We think this baby is 2 weeks old. In about two years it will be a proficient stone tool user. The Leakey Foundation IPHES MPI-EVA Leipzig

After many delays and cancelled flights, I'm still on my way to Serra da Capivara for this year's capuchin fieldseason. In the meantime enjoy some of Brazil's lovely geological formations from the plane
