OBJECT OF THE WEEK: Jenga (MB Games USA 1991) On display in our #IGrewUp90s exhibition, Jenga is a game of physical skill. It is based on a game evolved within her family in the early 1970s. The name ‘Jenga’ is derived from ‘Kujenga’, a Swahili word meaning, “to build”.

OBJECT OF THE WEEK: Focke-Wulf 190 Model This model, on display in our D-Day80 exhibition, is based on photographs of Lt. Leopold Wenger’s FW 190, part of IV Gruppe, SKG10 that attacked Torquay on 23rd May 1943. The fighter-bomber is shown carrying two 250kg bombs.

We've been out and about delivering Agatha Christie Festival Guides all across the Bay. Places we have visited include Paignton Zoo, Torquay Museum, @NationalTrust Greenway, The Lucky 7 Club, @KentsCavern and Bygones . It's lovely exploring Agatha Christie Country!

The handle of this silver and agate letter opener is decorated with a view of #Torquay Harbour and was made in Birmingham by Taylor and Perry in 1840. It is marked by the retailer James Braham of 8 Strand. The end cap lifts to reveal a compartment for holding stamps. #Marble

OBJECT OF THE WEEK: Tamagotchi (1996) Kicking off the ‘virtual pet’ craze (and selling over 83 million units) Tamagotchi keyrings, like this one on display in our #IGrewUp90s exhibition, contained a little critter that needed regular attention to grow from baby to adult.

#ObjectOfTheWeek: Buddhist Text This #Buddhist sacred text, on display in our Explorers Gallery, is hand-written in Burmese script. The text is written in black on red and gold lacquered palm leaf or fabric with wooden covers.

With our restocked, redesigned and refreshed new second-hand book display, visitors now have the opportunity to choose from over 500 variations of their favourite #AgathaChristie paperback titles! All sales contribute to preserving our collections and keeping the #Museum open.

OBJECT OF THE WEEK: RAF Goggles & Silk Escape Map The escape map, on display in our D-Day80 exhibition, was printed on silk so that it could easily be hidden and used to avoid capture if airmen were shot down in enemy territory.
