#Musculoskeletal conditions rank #2 AIHW in top 5 disease groups in Australia (2022) causing the most burden, yet latest @NHMRC annual report shows it has received <3% of all funding per yr since 2018! If back pain is part of "injury" funding than ~11%. @MSKAust

Thanks to all those who completed the online ' Measures that Matter' survey. Data will be analysed shortly. This will help us determine what secondary outcomes will be included in the study #codesign #research #osteoporosis 🦴

Thanks Starre for promoting heavy lifting for older women. Have to confess, I'm just thrilled to be in National Geographic...along with the leopard seals and the cheetahs! #fangirl #onero #osteoporosis #bonehealth #madeit

Such important work on an underesearched condition. Delighted the #Onero program for osteoporosis will be tested for another condition susceptible to low bone mass and very happy to be working with this smart crew!

The STOP FRACTURE! study is happening! Drs referrals to Onero and patients scanning our QR code to register. Stopping fracture one evidence-based exercise class at a time! griffith.edu.au/menzies-health…

Excited to share our paper on exercise and frailty after chemotherapy just published in a special collection in J Cancer Survivorship. Even light exercise can reverse aging, but strength training does even more! link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Training our muscles can keep our brain in shape as well. How the “muscle-brain axis” is key to keeping us both physically and mentally healthy as we age: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38615710/

Sure, resistance training “works” in older adults. But is this true even in the “oldest old“ (aged 85+)? After 12 weeks of resistance training, older adults aged 85+ had similar gains in muscle size, strength, and functional performance to those aged up to 20 years younger

Thanks for highlighting Lora. This was a win for science. It's so easy for falsehoods in papers to become fact. It's a rare undergrad who reads beyond the abstract despite the devil being in the detail. This paper should never have made it past the reviewers.
