“So this time we see it though the fingers”. Wonderful quote of a Dutch police officer in de Volkskrant inspecting fatbikes.
Enjoyed visit to the Second Chamber of our Parliament, the beating heart of our democracy. It is currently located in the former building of our Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs 🇳🇱 in which I worked for many years, and it was special to recognize some places inside and be surprised by others.
So often working government it helped me to realize that mistakes and miscommunication are much more prevalent than ill intent and malice. These cartoons visualize this. Love these Sketchplanations sketchplanations.
Participated in my first meeting as new member of the advisory council of the Oorlogsgravenstichting Oorlogsgravenstichting the Dutch War Graves Foundation, honoring women, men and children who lost their lives during the Second World War or during violent conflicts afterwards.
The Netherlands demonstrates strong leadership by supporting Ukraine in many areas, from military aid to resist Russian aggression to advancing our EU accession path. I thanked my Dutch colleague Caspar Veldkamp for this during our call today. We agreed to double our joint efforts.
Privileged to attend the presentation of the ‘Den Haag Vrede en Recht Krant’ (The Hague Peace and Justice newspaper) about the importance of The Hague as international city of peace and justice, across from the Peace Palace, as member of the Dutch UN Association (NVVN) advisory council member.
Karel van Oosterom It was indeed orange - need to keep my Dutch mother in law on side! I still have my Dutch UNSC Presidency tie btw.
