In covert action, this is called a Measure of Effectiveness. And this one was a home run. There was champagne poppin in Russian intel HQs, nothing better than Trump on-with their guy! Parroting their actual content! I mean, damn. Russians still eat our lunch at hybrid warfare.

Witting or unwitting doesn’t always matter. In many cases, the Russian services prefer it if you *don’t* know you’re working for them. The least trustworthy assets, historically, are those who do it for the money—if they’re your targets, it is best to hide who you are precisely

When you dismiss Russian disinformation as irrelevant or inconsequential, remember thousands of Ukrainians DIED last year because Russian disinfo enveloped the US Republican Party to the point that they blocked Ukraine's funding for 6 months, a rug-pull during the

Ah, imaginary whataboutism. The best whataboutism. (Remember, whataboutism is defense. Basically "this is indefensible on the merits, but I like the people doing it, so look at a different thing that different people did—or didn't even really do—that balances it out, so it's ok")

“You don’t understand,” explained the Putin apologist. “The chaos agents were trying to sow chaos, so it’s ok they were paid to ape Russian propaganda, including absurdly stretched claims like this one I’m making now.” “And so,” he concluded, “you should all do what Putin wants.”

It really is jarring to read Trump's comments as he actually delivers them vs. how they're eventually cleaned up in mainstream news outlets.

Unite the Right and January 6th were two events a bunch of people cheerleaded and then the second they didn't go well those same people decided they were creations of the federal government.

I dunno. Seems somewhat relevant that the bullshit they “sincerely” peddled was exactly the kind of bullshit Russia was willing to pay for. Whether it’s “the issue” depends on which issue you want to discuss. Legally sure, not the issue. Substantively, sure seems like an issue.

So now that they know the big piles of money they didn’t bother questioning ultimately came from the Russian govt for promoting Russia-friendly narratives that advance Russian interests, Rubin, Pool, and Johnson, are reconsidering their stances on the Ukraine war, right? Right?

If Trump loses the election, he'll face punishment for his crimes. If he wins, he'll reject jury verdicts and stifle the remaining cases, breaking the legal system in the process. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. The 2024 election is an up-or-down vote on rule of law.

Elizabeth Picciuto (@epicciuto) 's Twitter Profile Photo

There are an infinite number of incidents that should have made bigger news, but I’m stunned that Trump admitting he lost 2020 is not a much bigger deal.

Nicholas Grossman (@ngrossman81) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Everyone who demands examples of Trump's lying or trying to steal the election already knows many. It’s just that they want it to work, they know it’s indefensible, but they want to defend it anyway, and the pretend ignorance “sea lion” routine is the best they can come up with.

I don’t like Trump and I value Constitutional democracy, so I’ll take the opportunity to try to stop him and his enablers v. I don’t like Trump but I don’t really mind him and don’t value Constitutional democracy so I won’t act to stop it and will work to empower his enablers
