Accessibility means enrichment -- the more people attend the more opinions, questions and ideas arise. #accessibility #Equality #inclusion #DisabilityRights

I am very happy to announce that I'll be serving as #diversity, #equality and #accessibility co-chair at NeurIPS Conference 2023! Please, do get in touch with me if you need any help and/or advice in this regard

So far I've been trying really hard to stay alive, visiting more than 10 specialists at least twice per year & yet again I ended up having metastatic cancer Sometimes there's just nothing more that you can do, you just need to take life as it comes no matter what & that's alright

The only things in common that I have with Professor Sir David J.C. MacKay are that we both had been at Cambridge University and diagnosed with #cancer. The documentation of his chemo experience inspired me to share my personal #chronicillness experience, as well.

Disclaimer: The only reason that I share such private+sensitive information is not to take any kind of advantage of my "condition" but to rather remind to all of us that Academia should be (& to an extent is) a #diverse, #inclusive +#accessible place for everyone to join+flourish

When life gives you cancer, you can raise awareness on the topic and remind to everyone that they need to take care of themselves and people around them. We take life as it comes, but we certainly do have a say on how to act upon it #BeKind #Cancer

Dear All, Please note that we have changed our email address to [email protected] in order to have an umbrella address for #diversity #inclusion #fairness #equity and #accessibility regardless conferences venues Best wishes, Maria Skoularidou Chair of {Dis}Ability in AI

Scientists from Adaptive Brain Lab ai@cam have used #AI to predict the progress of #Alzheimers disease. It can predict more accurately than clinical tests whether someone with early signs of dementia will remain stable or get worse. Go deeper 👇 cam.ac.uk/research/news/…

Sadly, being at a conference can be overwhelming for #autistic people and people with epilepsy After three great days at ICML Conference #ICML2024 I had two seizures I'll keep on enjoying the conference, just felt like sharing / reminding that #chronicillness #cancer does not go away

When you’re disabled - keeping yourself alive is a full time job. Managing doctors appts, fighting for safe & competent healthcare and living in a world that isn’t made for you is exhausting. Since we entered the “you do you” phase of COVID… it’s become nearly impossible. 🧵/1

I've noticed that usually there's no training of admin & | other people on #Epilepsy & what to do if someone has any type of seizure at work I think that raising awareness on the topic is crucial Please spend a couple of minutes to inform yourselves, eg epilepsy.com
