Some of our colour ringed chicks seems to be reluctant to leave Wales, while others are already departed and living their best life in warmer habitats. One example is F:E78 ringed by Annie Booker who is already in Quarteira, Portugal! Good luck little one ! 📸: Daniel Santos

What a lovely way to start the week. At project peewit, working with farmers is an essential part of it. I also saw ~100 lapwing and a marsh harrier 😍

Tyto alba. Best Latin name ever! We have started our owl catching season at Bristol Port with this lovely bird! Hopefully, more to come to help us understand how the serval families on site use the territory and locality disperse.

Very excited to do my bit in the National Yellow-browed Warbler colour ringing project! These rings are absolutely tiny! Going to have to cut my nails to be able to fit them! Cheers Daniel Gornall

We've been looking forward to this! Tara Okon and Trevor Fletcher from the Fledgemore Nest Recording Group. Tara's first talk on this subject was at the BTO Conference in 2019 and she was one of the most popular speakers at that conference. #BTOCE24

He's well known for his tireless work on Tree Sparrows, but today matt prior is talking about using thermal imaging to monitor Corn Buntings. Matt says they are the second most difficult passerine to catch, after Hawfinch. #BTOCE24

Hi Aim to Sustain chaps -when are the shooting organisations going to fund the policing of shooting-related wildlife crime, which is currently being funded by bird-watchers and (in this instance) by bird-ringers who already put a lot of their own £ into monitoring & conservation
