A fairly massive migration of Red Bands has funneled into soybeans well North of I-20 in Louisiana. Many acres have been harvested, leaving younger, green beans in the bullseye.

Septoria brown spot on soybean typically starts on older leaves. Often in fields that are in continuous soybeans. Symptoms include brown lesions with a yellow halo. Rarely reduces yield. Can be confused with more damaging diseases like soybean rust Crop Protection Network (CPN) #Soybean #Fungi

#Reniform nematode is an economically important pest of MS #sweetpotato, #soybean, and #cotton crops. Females transform from worm-like to kidney-shaped (reniform) after establishing a feeding site on the root. She secretes a gelatinous mass of eggs around her body. #MSUext

Catching the symptoms and signs of southern blight all at once is helpful to diagnose what caused a small patch of dead plants. Showing up roughly 10 days later generally leads to a diagnosis of charcoal rot……at that point the charcoal rot is secondary MS SOYBEAN BOARD #mscrops

Even in what was mostly a hot, dry year, the target spot symptoms at some OVT locations are impressive. Overhead irrigation can definitely play a role in disease development MS SOYBEAN BOARD #mscrops

This summer was tough on dryland #corn, but can help assess stress tolerance. This was clear in a MSU Corn Hybrid Demo grown at 2 plant pop’s near Artesia. Thanks to Tony, Charlie, Billy Bob, Josh, 8 participating seed companies and all involved. 🌽#mscorn #MSUext #mscrops 🌽
