If you have late-blooming flowers in your garden, don't forget to check for any #moths feeding at night, to help investigate nocturnal #pollination ! We're still seeing moths on ragwort, devil's bit scabious and exotic plants on our beautiful campus University of Exeter, Cornwall University of Exeter CEC

King et al. used scat analysis to characterize the diet of lions in Tsavo, Kenya. Large ungulates like buffalo were the preferred prey, but high consumption of hirola & Grevy’s zebra could have a major impact on the populations of these threatened species: doi.org/nhcs

On the long journey home after a great week in Newcastle at #ICESASC24 🌊 Lots of interesting research spread across multiple themes of #marinescience. Also great to network with international science and policy people in the world of #bycatch and #AI

I’ve located my supervisor Rob Thomas on a remote island off the Faroes in some stone buildings surrounded by Storm-petrel nests. I think it will be hard to make him leave… A trip to Koltur to retrieve GPS tags deployed last week. One so far, now for another long night!!!

Take a look at this wonderful footage of 15 bottlenose dolphins sighted on Friday morning, September 13th, by Zoë Stannard as she followed PS Waverley past Worthing.  Zoe said the dolphins stayed with her for an hour as she continued to Littlehampton. #worthing #sussex

Interesting report from our colleagues at MWDW- grey seal seen feeding on a harbour porpoise off Isle of Man coast in July. Help us and our friends at SMRU and please do report any similar cases, as we're keen to learn more about this issue! mwdw.net/grey-seal-pred…

Third night lucky 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 After the gale force winds last night yielded zero returning Storm-petrels, we’re hoping for a more fruitful night of GPS retrievals today! Sleep deprivation levels are currently moderate. 📍Koltur Rob Thomas Feliksa Żurawska

Remembering mountain moth trap mornings monitoring migration in the Pyrenees during my PhD with University of Exeter, Cornwall and Karl Wotton The hawkmoths (Conovulus and Death's head here) are some of the most impressive insect migrants. The death's heads even squeak and smell of honey!
