🚨 GAZA UPDATE: Israeli forces have issued new “evacuation” orders to areas of Deir Al Balah, in central Gaza, where thousands of displaced civilians are sheltering and many humanitarian organisations, including MAP, are currently based. Governments must act now to save lives.🧵

Three of our staff have fled the area and report that roads are overwhelmed with people seeking safety. The order covers an area containing a MAP warehouse with 300 pallets of medical supplies, only 30% of which we have been able to move to safety amid the chaos.

A MAP aid worker reported, "it took two hours to drive six kilometres between our office in Deir Al Balah to Khan Younis today. Ambulance movement is heavy now, and I can hear gunfire in the background."

We are deeply concerned for the safety of our colleagues, their families and all Palestinians forced to flee into continuously shrinking so-called “safe zones” that offer no real safety. Food, water, and medical supplies are running out.

Israel's actions are an existential threat to the Palestinian population in Gaza. The unwillingness of the UK gov't to act to uphold international law, despite repeated warnings by aid agencies, has helped embolden worsening violations against civilians & humanitarian operations

In the face of flagrant violations of international law by Israeli forces, including routine obstruction & attacks against aid workers, the international community must act urgently to prevent the collapse of humanitarian operations in Gaza and protect civilians from atrocities.

Gaza is being erased. We urgently call on governments, including the UK, to immediately demand an end to Israel's attacks on Deir Al Balah. They must suspend all transfers of arms to Israel that could be used to violate international law.
