A confiding little owl, showing nice at RSPB Fairburn Ings and RSPB St Aidan’s yesterday, always a pleasure to watch these little guys. Also had a play at some monochromatic Tern photography. Turned out fairly well 🤔
Great result at Newbiggin for the greater sand plover, observed the bird slowly working away from the twitch, so I decided to move along, parallel to it, lay down behind a rock, waited and it kindly trotted over, and posed nicely 😊 Cracking bird 👌 RareBirdAlertUK RSPB Birders
With the rise in temperatures, brings a response from insects and this Jay was wise to it, giving me a hell of a show the other evening, jumping around, twisting and turning like a Swallow to catch them! Fascinating to watch. RSPB Birders RSPB Birders
Currently have this chap residing on my local river. Far bigger than a greylag and on research looks good for a steinbachers goose. Think they derive from continental farmland types. Thoughts?? RSPB Birders RSPB England
Bumped in to this chap on a lap around the river the other day and thought it made for a nice image with the foreground vegetation. Didn't think they'd bred until i saw 2 juvs with an adult finally 🤔 RSPB Birders RSPB England
Another meeting with my nemesis bird this afternoon, I'm going to have to christen it "The record shot falcon", because try as I might I've still not got a shot I'm happy with. Maybe one day 😂 🤣 RSPB Fairburn Ings and RSPB St Aidan’s
A steady start scouring the bushes for migrants RSPB Bempton Cliffs with apparently nothing doing, but then some rain helped proceedings revealing 3 nice pied flycatchers and a smattering of lemony willow Warblers Flamborough Bird Observatory
Glorious morning RSPB Bempton Cliffs with lots of activity in the nature trail bushes, great views of various regular fare but a stunning Southern Hawker was nice to see 👍
And another lifer in the bag. Great to catch up with the greenish warbler Flamborough Bird Observatory motorway hedge. Backed up with good views of various migrants including a bonus Hobby RSPB Bempton Cliffs , pied flies and an unexpected Sand martin.
A slight fall in action was evident today around the headland but the greenish' remained and migrants were still around both RSPB Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Bird Observatory lighthouse, with a Caspian gull giving a decent flyby out of the blue at the foghorn.

Spent a little time watching the Swallows currently feeding heavily RSPB Bempton Cliffs today. Soon they will be gone!! Nice to also bump in to a Sparrowhawk hiding near the feeding station 👀 Flamborough Bird Observatory
Finally after 4 years of trying, managed to photograph a water Rail. Seen them a few times now but never been lucky enough to capture one, but today saw the deadlock broken tophilllow with snipe and kingfisher also showing well RSPB Birders
What a stunning bird this juvenile ringed plover is!! Managed to capture it quite cleanly shooting past me at Flamborough this afternoon!! Flamborough Bird Observatory RSPB Birders
Finally, after 5 years I've managed to get a few decent shots of a Hobby. Definitely is my 'bogey falcon' with regards to getting decent photos, despite having seen a loads of them, they've always given me the slip but not today! RSPB Fairburn Ings and RSPB St Aidan’s RSPB Birders
