It is an irony not lost on me that on the way down to a Transport for the North meeting in Leeds this morning, my bus was twenty minutes late and my connecting train has been cancelled.

This was the Ouseburn pollution debate I was blocked from contributing to on Wednesday because Labour Councillors would rather go home. 1/2 chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-eas…

Don’t necessarily agree with the rhetoric or the policy outcomes (and certainly not some of the conclusions), but this is a pretty reasonable analysis of where the Tories went wrong: didn’t speak to the moderate voter, didn’t deliver for the partisan.

Delighted to speak this afternoon on Liberal Democrats Conference’s motion on Supporting Disadvantaged Children, an incredibly important topic and close to my heart politically and professionally. #LDConf

The SNP chose to use parliament's time today to debate independence. There are so many more issues crying out for attention in parliament, access to GPs and Dentists, sewage dumping in our rivers, the drug deaths emergency. Those are the issues Lib Dems would give attention to.

Cllr Kemp has made the right decision: his position was looking increasingly untenable. But the key questions remain: who knew what, and when? Labour must agree Newcastle Lib Dems 🔶’s urgent independent inquiry to get to the bottom of the political culture that got us here.
