An Leavy Doctor NOS I have the same gripe about rotational training. It's designed for a doctor with a spouse that will move with them and do all the 'life admin'. For all the progress towards workforce inclusion, our training structures are still stuck in the 19th century.

The Bipolar Doc Clear subject lines make life easier! I prefer ones like "For Information: xxx," "Please Respond: xxx," or "For Action: xxx." My pet peeve? Vague emails titled "Consultation" or "Meeting" where I have to open the attachment just to see if it’s relevant to my work. 📨

This time of year reminds me that, in the midst of a global pandemic, I retrained as a primary teacher and taught a class of thirty 6-year-olds! Careers don't have to be linear.

My Granny was 95 when she died last Nov. Her final words to me: "I love you. Take care." Nobody mentions her It's like they've moved on. Yet I've got a box of her clothes I can't bring myself to sort & I cry just thinking of her. The truth is, I miss her. Grief is a beast.

The Bipolar Doc An Leavy Doctor NOS Medical training structures disproportionately disadvantage for disability, for illness, for caring responsibilities, for cultural commitments... is there any wonder progress towards workforce diversity is so slow? The two problems are linked, and it's patients that miss out.

Giving a human factors talk next month at a critical care conference Hmm... BMJ study found ICU trainees urine was x2 as concentrated as their patients Even a 1-2Kg loss of body water can reduce analysis/decision making by 15-20% Drinking regularly helps maintain performance

I will be sad to lose this community, A wonderful group of followers that I've grown over the years. Though I'm not leaving quite yet, I am testing the water somewhere brighter. For anyone migrating to blue-sky. Please come and find me there: Jess.Morgan It's time to be me.

Sometimes it takes stepping onto the other side of the doctor patient relationship to be reminded of what really makes a difference. For me, kindness always comes first.
