A fab read: “…we disrupted survey methods and generated new insights into what matters to family carers….as well as the crucial role of co-production in this research.” By Prof Katherine Runswick-C Dr Martina Smith Prof Ryan & Chris Hatton #CDS24 bristoluniversitypressdigital.com/view/journals/…

.Lauren Avery talking about 'familist' disability welfare policy which means that disabled people and families are left with little choice about who provides care in neoliberal ableist systems Care work is gendered and racialised #CDS24

.Ruby-Goodley considering 'care' in the neoliberal university exploring 'anonymous care' (Stevenson, 2019) paradox of being able to say 'I care' but not for who Deeply individualised and effectively un-caring models of care permeate university (and other) spaces #cds24

Interesting article, but many family carers tell us that they don't have time for a cup of tea, let alone time to go for a walk in nature ... #MentalHealth #Care theguardian.com/environment/ar…

It was great to hear more about the SpinningPlates_CarerMH project at the #CDS24 conference. They highlighted how care is often not considered to be a part of disability studies, but the challenges that come with care in a disablist society are so important to acknowledge and address.

Returning from #cds24 to this beautiful card on my mat A timely reminder that (even, or perhaps especially, in academic spaces) we should be outraged, it’s ok to say so And we have a duty to use that rage to bring about change All of us

Prof Katherine Runswick-C Dr Martina Smith It’s the loveliest card. I think the rage is an invitation to folks too - one that says something like, ‘what we’ve being doing isn’t working.’ Maybe people think that rage infused research is flawed. I think it’s more ethical - and… true?
