When it comes to Covid we are really scraping around to try to piece fragments of data together to give us a proper picture of what’s going on. Not knowing what’s happening makes it so much harder to know how to respond.

Two words that can improve the health, wellbeing, attendance, concentration and academic achievement of children in schools: Better ventilation

there’s both a physical/material AND a behavioural dimension to mask use Masks-esp FFP3- physically reduce transmission Gov & public health agencies could have done more to : A. Communicate which masks to wear & HOW to wear effectively B. Provide free high quality masks

Confused about the efficacy of face masks? Check out Prof Greenhalgh's excellent paper here: journals.asm.org/doi/epub/10.11… The epidemiology (when all the evidence is evaluated) shows that they are effective. #COVIDー19 #Covid_19 #CovidIsAirborne #SARSCoV2

We acknowledge today’s position statement from RCPCH. Children are especially vulnerable to air pollution. We must therefore prioritise their health by ensuring clean air inside their classrooms. This must include monitoring and where healthy standards are not met, cleaning it.

Yes - also why not go further - junk food tax revenue could be earmarked to help those going hungry Many countries now have a twin problem of under- and over-nutrition I argued this a while back: journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.117… great piece by Kat Lay The Guardian

3 in 10 feel comfortable socialising indoors with someone who had tested positive for Covid Um, if you test positive I’d recommend not socialising with people indoors tbh

I should have added that the Royal Society royalsociety.org/-/media/policy… states (Box 2) "There is also evidence, mainly from studies in healthcare settings, that higher-quality ‘respirator’ masks (such as N95 masks) were more effective than surgical-type masks." #Covid #CovidIsAirborne

Presenteeism in schools (and workplaces) is a problem ... what may be 'mild' in one child (or person) may not be so for others. My comments in The i paper w Connie Dimsdale inews.co.uk/news/back-scho…
