Some big news: Dublin City Council will no longer permit plastic bags to be used for waste collection on 90 streets of the core city centre (the overwhelmingly commerical area marked on the map). The move from bags starts this month: it'll be mandatory by January.

The Old Library at Trinity College Dublin basking in September sunshine. Begun in 1712, it was at the time one of the most ambitious building projects ever undertaken in Dublin, completed in 1732. The upper facades were originally faced in sandstone, later refaced in granite.
