I was 14 when Columbine happened in 1999. School shootings were not something we worried about before then. Congress passed an assault weapons ban in 1994, which was supported by Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter. It was lifted in 2004. Mass shootings quadrupled.

On Thursday, I visited the farmers market in Washington, where the Washington County Democrats held a voter registration drive. Throughout the evening I had a good time strolling the booths and meeting local voters.

It was a great day to knock on some doors in Crawfordsville. Many voters in House District 92 are concerned about the state of public education in Iowa. As a representative, I would ensure that our public schools are adequately funded.

State Senator in Iowa. 61% of Iowans believe we should have the Roe rights that Michiganders now enjoy. Yet we are now less than because a court okayed the 6-week ban Rs passed in special session. We, too, deserve reproductive freedom. That would be actual freedom to thrive.

It was a great turnout in Crawfordsville. People talked about abortion restrictions, the threat they pose to women’s health, declining funding for public education, and complex issues around immigration affecting my district. I’m working hard to get elected and work on solutions.
